Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone had a joyful day on the 25th! I sure did! We started early (6am) by driving to ring Zach and Stacey's door bell to make sure they were up and would made it to Middle Gate. Well, you could say we were might surprised when we found a note that said this taped to the door:

"See you at Middle Gate Shiesters!
Love Zach, Stac, Si
P.S. Revanna look both ways
before you cross the street"

The turds! We had a bit of early morning cursing and laughing. By the time we made it to the house everyone was awake and we got started. Each person opened their stocking one at a time. It is such a delicious feeling going so slowly and seeing each family members delight! The floor was littered in wrapping paper and by the end, almost 2 hours later.
Then my Mama and Zach cooked a delicious breakfast, I packed up, showered, and started cooking!
We had a North meets South meal.

Pickerel Cakes
Moose Stew
Bison Short ribs
Swiss Chard and Sweet Potato Gratin
Garlic Butter Roasted Mushrooms
Spinach, Walnut, and Dried Peach Salad
Homemade Sourdough bread (courtesy of Zach and Nate)

It was so fun to do and the table looked awesome!
These three lovely ladies did the dinner dishes (thank you!!):

Like usual the boys were occupied with poker for most of the evening!
Merry Christmas!

Gingerbread Houses

We made Gingerbread people one day...but then of course we had to make Gingerbread houses! We enlisted the help of the girl's and we pulled off one chapel and one Mexican adobe house, we attempted a Victorian house, but that didn't work so well! Um, have I mentioned how much I adore my family? We had such a blast, there were tough parts too, but what family can make anything or do anything with out a little bit of wonky-ness!

Gingerbread People

On Saturday, Zach, Stacey, Si and I made gingerbread folk. I haven't done that for a while and it was SO fun. The smell, the taste, and the stories...
This is Frank, he lost his arm in the war and is in a perpetual state of shock.
And this is Rosanna a Yugoslavian immigrant, who moved to the states when she met her true love Paul (the little one) on the internet. Then the adopted the little homeless garbage-wearing girl. There was a happy ending!
And of course there was a nude gingerbread man...but I can't show that here!
I love being in the kitchen with these two.

Since you've last heard from me...

1. I've made 30 paper lanterns. I left them hanging in the kitchen for a day...they look like little balls of joy!

2. I've had a pizza sale with Daisy.
We made 24 pizzas in one night! With only one mishap!

3. Kicked the butt of Norway House's annual Bazaar!
4. Made 10 pies for a Grandparent's day dinner at the school.
5. Had snot purposely rubbed on me by an unruly 4 year old who didn't want to put his outdoor clothes on...it's too bad he's so darn cute!
6. Successfully gotten all kids in the nursery class to address me as 'Miss P' not 'teacher!'.
And much more...it's been a busy month. I'm sorry I don't have more pictures, I'm just not up to my usual picture taking-ness because I have no way to show them to people! Until I come to Winnipeg!
And by the way, if you want these posts to keep coming...start COMMENTING!

Brothers

Today I slowly got adjusted to the city...I ate breakfast with my brothers at the delicious Black Sheep Diner (more on that later). Without a doubt they are my favorite men on this planet. When we were all in the car together my heart was near bursting. They are the funniest, strangest, goofiest, smartest, kindest, gentlest (is that a word?), ridiculous, creative people ever. I am so glad they are stuck with me and I'm stuck with them.

Back to the land of white people and traffic lights...and internet!

I made the long snowy trek last night from Norway House to Winnipeg. You can be expecting some more posts quite soon!
