How to comment

Just a quick little note on how to comment...
1. Click on the "0 comments" or the "how-ever-many comments" at the bottom of the post.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and type in your comment in the white box.
3. Now select profile, there are 3 options here. The first 6 options are if you have a google account or blog account. You can just skip those (unless you have one and in that case select it) and move on to the last two. By selecting name/url all you need to type in is your name. You can leave the url box blank. The last option is Anonymous, you can be sneaky and just let me know your reading and leave me guessing...but still appreciating the comment!
4. Press 'post comment'. And voila, you've commented and basically made my day!
I love to hear from you guys, even if it's just a "hello" or "hey, have you heard of this..." or "do you have a delicious recipe for roasted vegetable enchiladas?".

A poll

Hi Everyone,
So, I am curious about this commenting thing...what is behind the non-comments. Please select an answer on the poll to the left of this post and maybe I'll figure this out.
I was happy to hear that I'm not the only person with a blog who struggles with non-commentors. But I still want to get to the bottom of this!
With curiosity,
Revanna

What's a Granny-wannabe to do?

The other night while we were driving Si turned around and saw me doing this:
His comment: "Revanna. Do you alway have to be doing something "granny"?"
What would our Granny say?

Family Photos

It's probably clear to you now how much I love photos. I have tons of pictures up at my house, every wall and room. And nothing is better than new pictures!
Last Tuesday we went out to Brenda and Larry's to have our pictures taken...I think they turned out amazing and can't wait to put them up on the walls!
That is just a peek...there are so many more, it will be hard to pick which ones to print!

Norway House

My 'vacation' to Norway House was amazing. First off, it is beautiful up there right now.
(This was taken off my friend's back step)
Second, there was good company, I mean GREAT company! I had many moments of feeling how fortunate I am to have landed up there when I did and to have been able to meet such amazing people.
Third, yummy food cooked with happiness...
It was just great.

The Wedding Cake

Here she is!
This is my 3rd wedding cake and definitely the best!

Over and out

I'm headed back north today for a week, I have a wedding cake to make and friends to visit! And while I'm not really looking forward to the drive I have to say I'm pretty darn excited to be back in my home!
I'll leave you with this picture of Annie Rose after a morning of cloth basket making...so fun!

A day in the country...

On Saturday I headed out to Beausejour with Zoe to visit a friend we have known for both of our lives. It was a magic day, we went to a farm she is apart of and helped out for the day...we plucked and cleaned chickens. Might not seem like a 'magical' thing to some, but this was something I was surrounded with as a wee one and to be able to do it years later as an adult is strange and well, magical.
After working for a few hours we had lunch...and I don't think I can even use words to describe the feeling of walking into the cool house, tired and hungry, and seeing a long table laden with food. And not only food, but good, real, happy food. Once I stopped shaking out of hungry and was eating at a normal pace, Zoe said to me "I've never seen you eat so much!". And honestly I probably could've kept going! There is nothing that I have found yet in life that is as satisfying as eating after doing manual labor. Nothing.
After working, eating, and then wandering we headed back home to put up our feet and knit/crochet. As we were sitting on the couch Zoe said (apparently she did a lot of 'saying'!) "Hmm, I wonder what we'll be like when we're eighty...". Hopefully just like this. Hopefully we will put our feet up after a long, but so rewarding, day, with cups of tea beside us and balls of yarn in our hands. We'll smile at each other, sigh, and say "What a wonderful day we've had".
"It shapes us from childhood through
sun and through rain
Compels us to live for life's pleasures
and pain
And the secret to me from the day of
my birth
Is the nurturing seasons and rich prairie earth."
-Dave Bouchard
This is my comfort. This is where I came from. This is where I'm going to.

A weekend of celebrations

This weekend we celebrated two very special birthdays!
Saturday was Jay's 50th
And Sunday was Isabelle's 14th birthday!
Sorry Isabelli, I was a little slack on taking pictures at your party, and my 'photographer' was a little busy too...maybe stuffing as many chips as he could into his face.

Love you to you both!

A video

My new favourite thing to do when we get together is set Duncan loose with my camera. I am always pleasantly surprised at what I find when I load the pictures onto my computer. He has also started taking videos...here is one with a bit of editing! Enjoy!

If it makes you happy...

A few weeks ago Stacey and I got together and spent the evening doing things that made us happy. As simple as eating banana splits, wandering a mall, and drinking iced tea. It was such a great way to get out of our heads and search out the small joys. That night we stopped and picked up ingredients to make cookies on a stick...we didn't make them then but we did last week!

We spent as much time making little tags for our bags of cookies as we did actually making the cookies.
We packaged them up with ribbons and our painted tags and what delight they brought to us as they did to the people that received them!

My advice for the day, or week, or month, or LIFE is...
If that seems a little daunting, try a do one thing that makes you happy in the next hour. And remember it can be as little playing your favourite song again and again and again, or watching a movie in your bed, drinking a cup of tea, or reading a book in the bath...what is it going to be? It can be a simple or as hard as you make it.

What happens when Punk and I get a hold of a camera...

My Bestie

Last Thursday I celebrate my friend Zoe's 20th birthday! We got together for a picnic in the park and ice cream at Sargent Sundae. We were able to count back to her 16th birthday of the things we'd done each year on July 28th. Pretty awesome. And there was more...but our memory's aren't as good as they used to be, heehee!
We have been friends for 20 years...that's a long time! I feel so lucky to have a friend that has been with my so long, and seen the grumpiest side of me and is still willing to stick around! So Zoe, here are to many more birthday celebrations and many more years of friendship!
