On Saturday I headed out to Beausejour with Zoe to visit a friend we have known for both of our lives. It was a magic day, we went to a farm she is apart of and helped out for the day...we plucked and cleaned chickens. Might not seem like a 'magical' thing to some, but this was something I was surrounded with as a wee one and to be able to do it years later as an adult is strange and well, magical.

After working for a few hours we had lunch...and I don't think I can even use words to describe the feeling of walking into the cool house, tired and hungry, and seeing a long table laden with food. And not only food, but good, real, happy food. Once I stopped shaking out of hungry and was eating at a normal pace, Zoe said to me "I've never seen you eat so much!". And honestly I probably could've kept going! There is nothing that I have found yet in life that is as satisfying as eating after doing manual labor. Nothing.
After working, eating, and then wandering we headed back home to put up our feet and knit/crochet. As we were sitting on the couch Zoe said (apparently she did a lot of 'saying'!) "Hmm, I wonder what we'll be like when we're eighty...". Hopefully just like this. Hopefully we will put our feet up after a long, but so rewarding, day, with cups of tea beside us and balls of yarn in our hands. We'll smile at each other, sigh, and say "What a wonderful day we've had".
"It shapes us from childhood through
sun and through rain
Compels us to live for life's pleasures
and pain
And the secret to me from the day of
my birth
Is the nurturing seasons and rich prairie earth."

This is my comfort. This is where I came from. This is where I'm going to.
I did do a lot of saying! ha ha I've never been quoted so many times!
